Please read the below terms and conditions carefully before applying to become a speaker. If any of these terms and conditions are breached, Schools in Business (SiB) reserves the right to withdraw speakers from the program.


  • Speakers must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the presentation.
  • Speakers must arrive on time. Time with students is governed by lesson schedules.
  • Speakers are representing Schools in Business (SiB) therefore must dress appropriately, be professional and courteous at all times.
  • Speakers must not use inappropriate language during a school presentation or whilst on the school premises, under any circumstances.
  • Speakers must not discriminate on the basis of a political view, race or religion, sexuality, class or any other factor.
  • Speakers should not speak offer commentary about any political party, or in reference to a political party, without express permission from Schools in Business (SiB).
  • Speakers are not to use chocolates or lollies as prizes or gifts and should not provide treats or other products, under any circumstances. Most schools have a “no nut” policy so please keep this in mind.
  • Speakers should provide any details of DECD compliance with child protection policies, including any approvals from DECD or related bodies, to Schools in Business (SiB), to keep on file. It is the responsibility of speakers to ensure they comply and have the correct approvals in place for working with children.
  • The duty of care resides with the teacher, so you must ensure that a teacher stays in the room with the speaker at all times.



  • Speakers must not hand business cards or personal contact details to students. Business cards can be provided to the teacher only.
  • Speakers must not display any offensive or inappropriate material, or any material someone may find offensive. If you are unsure about this, please contact Schools in Business (SiB) to discuss.
  • Speakers must send all presentation material to Schools in Business (SiB) prior to the presentation date.
  • Speakers in Schools provides a branded PowerPoint template which it requires speakers to use for presentations.



  • Speakers must submit their current biography to Schools in Business (SiB), which will be used by the school. This can include a current photograph of the speaker. 
  • Speaker names and biographies will be placed on the Speakers in Schools website. If you do not wish for this information to be published, please advise Schools in Business (SiB).



  • Should speakers need to cancel their attendance at a presentation, Schools in Business (SiB) must be notified 72 hours prior to the presentation. Speakers are asked to attempt to secure a replacement for presentations should cancellations be received within 48 hours.
  • All changes to dates, times etc MUST be made through Schools in Business (SiB), not directly with the school.
  • Speakers are not to send a colleague/friend as a replacement if unable to deliver the presentation without notifying Schools in Business (SiB) in advance.
  • Speakers must advise Schools in Business (SiB) in advance, if anyone will be accompanying them to the presentation. Additional personnel are governed by these same rules as the speaker.
  • Speakers may contact the school for more details prior to the presentation but not for cancellation or reschedule.
  • Speakers must complete the evaluation form and return to Schools in Business (SiB) after each presentation.
  • Speakers must refer all future speaking engagements at schools within South Australia back to Schools in Business (SiB).
